WALKING HORSE CLUB KY POEM FOR DOUGLAS CLIFFORD “Doug” CRAWFORD

We meet people everyday but there are some that we are…. just drawn to! That is, the way it was with “My Friend Doug.” Yes, we had a common love for the horse shows and industry, but it was more.

    MY FRIEND DOUG

Not sure exactly how we met,
don’t even remember when.
But can’t imagine living life
without my special friend.

You listened to me when we would talk,
that was a special gift.
Yet, every time I left your side.
I felt a special lift.

Your knowledge and view point amazed me
no matter what the topic.
From stocks and bonds to major investments
your insight was energetic.

Now when it came to horse shows,
we certainly had lots of fun.
You always told it like it was….
“That’s a sorry son-of-a-gun!”

That is what I loved about you.
Your honesty and your view…
Never trying to impress me
with what or who you knew.

I will miss my special friend.
But like two ships passing in the night,
look forward to talking to you again,
When I too …have seen the light.
